Biography Avraham Ofek, Painter and Sculptor. b. 1935, Bourgaz, Bulgaria. Died 1990, Jerusalem.
Immigrated 1949, settled in Ein Hamifratz where he was educated. Professional Studies: Painting under Arie Rothman; 1958-60 Academy of Fine Arts, Florence; 1961 Study Tour to Seville and Madrid, Spain, and London and in 1969 to Europe and U.S.A. Teaching: 1962-75 Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem; 1978 appointed Head of the Art Department, Haifa University. Prizes: 1962 Biennale, Paris; 1969 Jerusalem Prize for Painting and Sculpture; 1972 Represented Israel at Venice Biennale;1990 Ish-Shalom Prize for Life's Work in Art. 1975 Head of the Art Department, Israel T.V., Jerusalem; 1976 Founded the "Levitan" Group together with Shmuel Ackerman and Michael Grobman; 1981-83 Consul for Sculpture and Science, Embassy of Israel, Rome. Made wall paintings in Kfar Uria; Central Post Office Building, Jerusalem; Stone and Agron Schools, Jerusalem.
