Biography Rami Meiri, Muralist/Painter. B. 1957, Israel. Studied painting and drawing at the Avni Academy in Tel Aviv. Began a series of mammoth wall paintings in the early 1980s. Over a 25-year period, Meiri has worked all over the country creating art likened to graffiti including his largest piece in the Ashdod Port practically a kilometer long -depicting various port scenes. Painted 13 years ago, it was his black-and-white drawing of a mans scrunched up face which marked his transition from an altruistic street artist into a commissioned muralist. Meiri is considered one of the most prominent of street artists in Israel. (The Jerusalem Report, June 16, 2003)
