Biography
Aschheim was Born in Germany to a religious family. He joined the German Army in World War I. After the war he studied painting at the Academy of Brasslau under the guidance of Auto Miller, a member of the German Expressionist Movement. In 1939 he immigrated to Israel and became a teacher in the New Bezalel Academy. Aschheim belongs to a generation of artists, whose whole repertoire is based on a direct impression of nature, life and the human form. His Oeuvre represents a continuous connection with nature and human figure, usually executed with a dark palette, legacy of his German Expressionist roots. (100 Artists in Israel by Gabriel Talpir, Tel-Aviv, 1971, Gazith Art Publishing, P.35).
