Biography
Claire Yaniv, painter, born 1920 in Basra, Iraq. Immigrated to Israel in 1928. Education: Began studying drawing at age 15 with Haim Gliksberg. Studied drawing 1939-1940 with Yitzhak Frenkel, Tel Aviv.1941-1943 Teachers Seminary, Jerusalem, drawing with Steinhardt. 1946-1948 with Stematsky and Streichman at the "Studia".1950 Sculpture with Sternschuss.Tel Aviv University, philosophy and art. Histadrut Studio, directed by Aharon Avni. Was one of the founders of the "Group of Ten" (1951-1960) and participated in all the group's exhibitions. In the early 1970's she joined the artists who founded the "Climate" group. Has been living in Ein Hod Artists Village since 1953.
