Yosl Bergner, Painter. b. 1920, Vienna. 1937 Left Vienna for Australia. Immigrated 1951. Son of Yiddish poet, Melech Ravitch of Vienna. Studies: Art School, Melbourne. Prize: 1980 Israel Prize with Anna Ticho. Exhibited in Australia in framework of ‘Association of Contemporary Art’; participated in group, ‘Social Realism’. Retrospective Exhibition: The Tel-Aviv Museum of Art April-August 2001. Prizes: Dizengoff Prize; Israel Prize.
