Biography
Lazar Krestin (1868-1938), Russian Jewish painter. Born in Kovno in 1868. Renowned for his Judaic genre scenes and portraits of Eastern European Jews. Student of Isidor Kaufmann. Worked in Munich, Vienna and Odessa before coming to Jerusalem in 1910 at the request of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design founder, Boris Schatz. Died in Vienna in 1938.
